Millennials who are absolutely killing it find shoe-box studios on the upper west side in Manhattan, or decide to share a loft in Dumbo or Williamsburg. They enjoy the city life, replete with clubs and live music and a cornucopia of choices for good late night grub.
They’re wise to go after what they want. I imagine they’re also happy to have gotten it. They have a relative proximity to the big city, to Broadway, to the place where Sinatra said “If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere.” Possibly more relevant, they’re “where concrete jungles are made of,” as Jay Z and Rhinna dubbed it. But, have they really left the dorms? Sharing a tiny, paltry apartment in a hip neighborhood is cool. Maybe? Is it foolish? Definitely.
Believe it or not, the big city allure for millennial professionals includes, (really demands) food choices. And, many young settlers of the big Apple believe they have to follow the FOOL traffic into poor life decisions.
Question How can all the needs of today’s up-and-comer be met?
Answer: Staten Island’s north shore!
Just beyond the ramps of the Staten Island Ferry’s dock is a burgeoning, bustling, bohemian, behemoth of an opportunity for young professionals to make a nest. There’s an art scene. There’s live music, and there’s much more.
Empire Outlets, luxury (comparatively inexpensive) apartments at the View and the Accolade and Urby and of course food trucks!
Don’t get me wrong, Staten Island homeowners and luxury condo residents don’t suffer from a dearth of quality culinary destinations. Quite the opposite. The north shore boasts a buffet equal to Brooklyn or even Manhattan.
But, we also have chicken over rice, gourmet doughnuts and anything else your street food heart desires.
