From Canada to Spain
Marc Picard is equally humble as he is accomplished, showing his gratitude to the Casandra Properties team for having him as a guest. In addition, Marc compliments the CP team on their digital presence and accomplishments. Marc notes that podcasting has become a great “business card” for people, as James and Rebecca agree the podcasting community has really connected with one another and is nothing short of supportive. Marc was born in Montreal, Quebec and had visions of being a performer since he was seven years old; he practiced gymnastics when he was a kid. He says he could literally visualize it – being in Cirque du Soleil. His parents, although they themselves were not in the entertainment industry, were very supportive. Marc would grow up and star as a lead character in 4,000 shows of Cirque du Soleil. He did that for seven years. Today, he is a digital marketer, an investor, and lives a simple, minimalist life in Spain with his family.
Ultra Running
Marc Picard is a long-distance trail runner or “ultra runner.” He runs about a half marathon a day (about 13 miles). He’s not running on a cushiony treadmill either; pouring rain or blistering sun, Marc is out there running on rough terrain around his village in Spain. Why does he do it? Marc asserts he does it for his mindset. Marc notes you don’t have to go out and run a half marathon a day, but small microscopic changes or micro adjustments to your lifestyle will help you get into a better mindset. These small adjustments on a daily basis can lead to major changes down the road.
Thoughts on Coronavirus
Much like our own CEO James Prendamano has said, Marc notes that while Coronavirus has been a tragedy for many, it has also helped humanity. Marc Picard says that it gave us the time to pause and reawaken and realize what is important to us. Loss and sacrifice is an integral part of growth, and Coronavirus forced many of us to break old habits and change them.
One-Part Entrepreneur/One-Part Marketer
Marc is a self-taught digital marketer, admitting he got into it by having one of his projects fail in 2013. He says it failed because at the time he completely underestimated the power of digital marketing. He most certainly learned from that mistake and is now the founder of Stupid Simple Digital Marketing. Marc says he started by taking e-course after e-course, building a website for a friend, and then he started growing his client base.
Active Meditation
Marc says that the mind is the most misused tool and you have to be in the present. Marc does what he calls “active meditation,” which is talking to his mind while he’s doing something active, like running our doing chores. Marc says that you really can control your mind, you just have to learn how to “let it go,” he laughs, “just like the song.”
Pearls of Wisdom
”With every adversity, you have two options – find excuses or grow, so I decided to grow,” Marc Picard emphasizes. Marc also adds that everyone he meets becomes his life coach, running under the sun, the farmer in his small town, and his children are all his life coaches.
