Nordstrom Inc. has signed a leaser with Empire Outlets, New York City’s first and only retail outlet complex, located on the North Shore of Staten Island. Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, said “We’ve been focused on finding the best locations across New York City.” And Mr. Rack has certainly found it. BFC Partners is the developer of Empire Outlets, a nearly 350,000-square-foot retail complex, being constructed in the St. George neighborhood along Richmond Terrace. Empire Outlets is positioned near the St. George Ferry Terminal, making it easily accessible for tourists and locals. Overall, the Empire Outlets project is expect to bring financial growth to Staten Island, projected to create more than 1,200 construction jobs and 1,100 permanent jobs and bring nearly $100 million in net tax revenue to the city over the next 30 years, according to a New York City Economic Corp. 2012 report.
