1. Beaches All-Around
Florida is a peninsula, only connected to the rest of the continental United States at the very top. The rest is surrounded by water, either the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico. That means almost the entire coastline of the state is a beautiful, refreshing beach.
No matter what city you live in Florida, the beach isn’t far away. Some residents of the state are even lucky enough to have the beach right outside their front door, a mere three or four-minute walk away.
The beaches in Florida are consistently rated some of the most beautiful in the world, no matter if you are as north as the lovely Jacksonville Beach or down south near Miami. St. George’s Beach is consistently rated one of the best of the nation, and many Florida-set movies have taken place on the idyllic shores of Clearwater.
If you want to take advantage of the beachside properties, it’s worth looking into listings for luxury homes off the coast.
2. The Weather Is Hard to Beat
If you can’t stand the idea of another cruel winter blowing through town, then Florida is the place for you. The state isn’t known as the Sunshine State for no reason. There’s warm and fantastic weather almost year-round, which means no harsh below-freezing temperatures for you to suffer through.
You can even choose just how warm you want to be in by picking which city to live in. If you go as far south as Miami, you can expect to have temperatures in the 80s year-round. However, if you’d prefer at least the impression of the seasons, you can go north to look at Jacksonville or Tallahassee.
In these cities, temperatures can get a bit chillier in the winter months.
3. No State Income Tax
Most states in the United States require their residents to play some sort of tax to the state government. This money is used to create things for their residents and care for public spaces.
However, Florida does not require this tax. If you want to save some extra money every year, moving to Florida can actually be a great way to do it. Whatever percentage you’re used to giving to the state of your residence can now stay in your pocket.
That means you can put it towards your bills or towards various fun activities. No complaints there!
4. Plenty of Fun Activities
If you’re bored of where there is to do in your current town, Florida can certainly provide a change of pace. There’s so much to do all over the state that it can get a little overwhelming.
Outside of the beaches, there’s plenty of natural rivers and reservoirs that you can take a dip in or go rafting down. There’s a wealth of wonderful natural parks, including the Everglades down in the southern region.
Florida is also home to Disneyland and a number of other exciting theme parks. These are mostly clustered in Central Florida, near Orlando, making them easily accessible no matter where you live in the state.
If you’re a sports fan, the state has no shortage of amazing opportunities to get your game on. There are three NFL teams within the state alone, as well as a number of amazing baseball and basketball teams.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to entertaining yourself in the sunshine state. It’s safe to say if you move to Florida, boredom shouldn’t really be an option.
5. Plenty to Eat and Drink
What if your idea of fun is a great meal and a hard drink? Florida has you covered in that regard as well. From it’s famous seafood to a number of hand-crafted beers, you’ll never be in need of a good meal as long as you’re within state borders.
There’s tons of fresh produce tended to and originated from the state’s lands. That means what you’re eating at the local eatery was probably grown and processed nearby.
The state also has a heavy Cuban influence, meaning there’s not a better place to get some empanadas or a Cuban coffee. The state has a very diverse population, which means food of all kinds and from all cultures can be found and enjoyed if you look around.
If you’re a food and drink lover, you’ve found your match in Florida.
Reasons to Move to Florida
If you’re looking for a few good reasons to move to Florida, the above should be enough to get your engines revving. There are so many positive and wonderful things about the state, and it very well could be the perfect new place for you to call home.
